I've Found a Teacher
I finally found a mage who will teach me! His name is Kheldon Bremen, and he sent me this mysterious note:
There are four rules to magic:
Magic is powerful.
Magic is corrupting.
Magic is addicting.
Magic draws the denizens of the Twisting Nether to those who wield the arcane.
Those rules you can always guarantee. Those rules will govern your destiny if you choose to continue down the path as a mage.
If you're foolish enough to ignore this warning, then come speak to me inside the library wing of the abbey in Northshire. I'll be waiting for you upstairs.
-Kheldon Bremen, Mage Trainer
Needless to say I ran to see him right away!
Later on I bought more supplies from Janos Hammerknuckle. Janos is a kind man who would lend me an ear when I would cry from being taunted by all the other children.
I also chatted with Milly Osworth. She's been like a big sister to me and advised me to go my own way and not worry about what others thought. A gang of brigands, the Defias, had moved into the Northshire Vineyards while she was harvesting. She was afraid for her crop of grapes, so I told her I'd go to the vineyards and retrieve her buckets of grapes for her and save her harvest.
Again I summoned balls of fire and flung them at the Defias Thugs who meant to kill me.
And again I still had to defend myself with my staff.
Everything worked out. I got Milly her grape harvest and she was very happy. She even gave me a small reward. But now it was time to move on and leave Northshire Valley. Kheldon Bremen, my mage trainer, told me I have to be completely on my own if I am to grow and learn what it takes to be a truly powerful mage.
I travelled south to Goldshire, another small town, and then east to the Eastvale Logging Camp, where I met Eldrin, a Journeyman Tailor. Yes, I know it's depressing, but Kheldon told me I not only have to go out into the unknown on my own, I also have to learn a profession! Not exactly the glamorous adventuring life I'd dreamed of. Tailoring seems perfect for me. I've spent countless hours alone in my room while the other kids were playing together, and I would sew. I figure that even if I'm broke, I can always keep my clothes from falling apart. I never imagined life on my own would be so hard.
